DEIB at Berkeley Optometry
Support recruitment and outreach efforts to ensure diversity in the field of optometry

We are excited to share with our community the creation of The Dr. Marvin R. Poston Opportunity Fund that will support recruitment and outreach efforts to advance an inclusive graduate community and enhance the cultural, academic, and professional experience of historically underrepresented students at Berkeley Optometry.

A leadership gift was made by Dr. Michael Harris to honor Dr. Marvin Poston, the first African American to graduate from Berkeley Optometry. Dr. Poston was a man of great integrity who gave much to the field of optometry.  He is nationally recognized and respected for his roles as an optometrist, legislative and optometric professional, pioneering African-American, a role model for minority youth, a community leader, and a statesman.  His life is a reflection of hard work, determination, accomplishment, and good humor.

We hope you will join us, and Dr. Harris, in honoring Dr. Poston's efforts by making a gift to the Dr. Marvin R. Poston Opportunity Fund today.  Together, we can ensure diversity in the field of optometry.
