Engaging learning environments that embody the values, relationships, and experiences of a more inclusive and just world are needed now more than ever. 

So many of our K-12 schools continue to endure the decades-long teacher shortage that has disproportionately impacted historically marginalized communities. 

That’s why Berkeley Educators for Equity and Excellence (BE3) is doubling down on its mission: prepare and train teachers who have a commitment, grounded in humility and hope, to construct classrooms, pedagogies, and practices that lift all students by working in solidarity with families and communities.

We recognize our collective capacity to transform – to look inward and become more honest, courageous and whole so that we can hold space, support, and embrace others to do the same. Simultaneously, we look outward knowing that alone we cannot create the conditions in schools and society to fulfill these aspirations for teaching and learning.
