Educational Justice & Community Engagement
Support the leadership of our vibrant and diverse student body by giving to these initiatives:

African American Student Development (AASD)

In partnership with students, staff, faculty, campus and community partners, the African American Student Development Office is the Academic, Social-Emotional, Professional Development, Community and Cultural Support Center for Students of African/Black Ancestry at the University of California at Berkeley.  African American Student Development creates programs and activities that facilitate the retention and graduation of African American students, encourages their matriculation to graduate and professional school, and enhances their undergraduate experiences.

Asian Pacific American Student Development (APASD)

The Asian Pacific American Student Development (APASD) office serves the diverse and changing needs of Asian American, Pacific Islander, South Asian, Southwest Asian and North African (AA/PI/SSWANA) communities by equipping students with the tools and resources to transform themselves and their communities. Your gift will fund programs that provide political education, cultivate community, and encourage collective action for AA/PI/SSWANA students.

Chicanx Latinx Student Development (CLSD)

Conceptualized and created by Chican@ and Latin@ students, staff/faculty and community members in the late 1980s, the student-run and staff-led Chicana Latino Student Development Office advocates for the retention and graduation of Chican@/Latin@ students, empowers students to become leaders, professionals and scholars, and creates community between Chican@/Latin@ spaces on and off campus.

Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq)

The Gender Equity Resource Center, fondly referred to as GenEq, is the UC Berkeley campus community center serving the LGBTQ+ and Women's communities. GenEq is the campus location where students, faculty, staff and alumni connect for resources, services, education and leadership programs related to gender and sexuality. Serving the campus community since 1972, GenEq works to increase the sense of belonging for all through our many educational programs, and resources.

Multicultural Community Center (MCC)

Grown from a profound history of student struggle and activism, the Multicultural Community Center is rooted in the need to address long-standing, and largely unmet, needs of underrepresented/underserved communities at UC Berkeley. As a student-led, student-centered space, the MCC offers dynamic opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members to collectively work towards a more equitable, accessible, and relevant university, while also supporting each other’s personal and professional holistic growth and development. We are committed to: peer-to-peer dialogue and action;

engagement and collaboration across and from difference; honoring knowledge in all shapes and forms; cultivating sustainability in all aspects of our work; and holistic support.

Native American Student Development (NASD)

The Native American Student Development office works to indigenize the legacy of Berkeley as a leading institution with outstanding opportunities and academic programs by supporting and growing the Native community at Berkeley, while continuously infusing indigenous issues, culture and events into the campus community.

NASD recognizes that Berkeley sits on the territory of xučyun (Huichin (Hoo-Choon), the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo (Cho-chen-yo) speaking Ohlone people, the successors of the historic and sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County, and that this land was and continues to be of great importance to the Muwekma (Muh-wek-muh) Ohlone Tribe and other familial descendants of the Verona Band.

Equity and Inclusion General Fund

The Equity and Inclusion General fund provides support and opportunities through priority initiatives including, but not limited to, the African American Initiative, our campus HSI Initiative, and the STEM Equity & Inclusion Initiative. Your investment will also allow the Division to quickly pivot to meet unanticipated or emerging needs that require immediate action, as we have seen with the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirement to quickly shift to remote access to ensure the on-going safety and well-being of UC Berkeley's students, faculty and staff.
