The Criminal Law & Justice Center advances Berkeley Law’s public mission, striving to transform the criminal legal system by centering the lived experience of communities most directly affected.
Our center serves as a research and advocacy hub, providing support for impactful teaching, empirical analysis, and pragmatic training in criminal legal reform. It undertakes projects to address foundational problems in the criminal legal system, including structural inequities related to poverty and racism.
With your help, the center advances legislative initiatives, impact litigation coalitions, policy papers, and statistical analysis. Enlisting the insights of reform movement leaders and formerly incarcerated people, the center also works to strengthen Berkeley Law’s criminal law course offerings and to educate the public on key issues.
Thank you for helping to advance Berkeley Law’s public mission.
