BIG GIVE IS OVER, BUT YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE PROGRAMS.
Latinx Thriving Institution

Support Berkeley in its quest to become not only a Hispanic-Serving Institution, but a Latinx Thriving one.

In 2018, Berkeley announced a commitment to achieve Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) status by 2027. This federal designation comprises colleges and universities that enroll at least 25 percent Latinx undergraduates. Becoming an HSI is about much more than a numeric goal. It is about stepping up, as the world’s No. 1 public university, to ensure every member of our Latinx community is not only included but thriving. This means having equitable access to the full range of opportunities that support students’ educational journey, including:

  • College prep and academic counseling programs.
  • Financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships.
  • Food, housing, and other basic needs.
  • Participatory learning experiences for undergraduates and mentoring experiences for graduate students.
  • Mental health and wellness support

For the first time in state history, Latinx are now the largest ethnic group in California. We invite you to join us in fulfilling our responsibility to serve the public good by fostering the Latinx leaders of tomorrow.
