Thank you for your interest in the Berkeley Center for the Study of American Democracy in the Charles and Louise Travers Department of Political Science.
The Berkeley Center for the Study of American Democracy's mission is to support and promote the work of scholars focused on the challenges confronting American democracy. We offer assistance for graduate and undergraduate research, as well as resources to promote conversations within Political Science and across campus concerning the challenges of governance in the United States.
The center supports research efforts on varied topics in relation to the crisis of governance in the United States. From contemporary racialized political appeals to the strong and important linkages between the American economy and American politics, the center advances work that helps us understand voters, assess institutions' responsiveness to the nation’s citizens, and examine the effectiveness of government in confronting pressing problems.
