Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics (BCSP) is advancing interdisciplinary basic research and public education about the role of psychedelics in the brain and in society; and building guide training curricula.
The BCSP harnesses the power of a great public university to improve health and well-being for all through culturally informed psychedelic research and education.
Drawing on the deep interdisciplinary strengths of UC Berkeley, the BCSP research program will fundamentally increase our shared understanding of the specific mechanisms of psychedelics’ impacts on the brain. Its public education program will become the field’s trusted source for authoritative, objective journalism and related continuing education for several constituencies.
It will advance the conversation on these themes to inform the public, policy makers, the media, business, potential patients, and professional learners around the world. The “Berkeley model" of training curricula will combine the best of research methodology, experiential sessions, spiritual expertise, and cultural sensitivity for guides to the psychedelic experience.
