Your contribution will be put to use immediately to support the general operations of the Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate, which provides opportunities for faculty members to serve in the shared governance of the university. The senate is a critical part of faculty life at Berkeley.
The senate is empowered by the Board of Regents to determine academic policy; set conditions for admission and granting of degrees; authorize and supervise courses and curricula; and advise the administration on faculty appointments, promotions, and budgets. It also celebrates faculty for their accomplishments and keeps memorial records for all faculty and emeriti.
