The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarships (OURS) works to integrate undergraduates into the dynamic and diverse research landscape of UC Berkeley. In addition to individualized advising, OURS offers several important campuswide programs that collectively serve as the principal pipeline for undergraduate research opportunities including URAP, SURF, Haas Scholars, UCDC, and the Stronach Prize.
The center strives to:
- Inspire and support all undergraduates to pursue research
- Increase undergraduate and faculty collaboration in research
- Promote existing research activities and programs within and beyond UC Berkeley
- Develop resources to expand undergraduate research opportunities
- Encourage the extension of student learning beyond the classroom via research-intensive internships, public service, and community-engaged projects
- Prepare undergraduates applying for nationally competitive scholarships
OURS programs serve thousands of Cal students every semester. Since the office’s foundation in 1997, it has radically transformed undergraduate access to and engagement in research.
