Big Give 2025

The Janice Clementine Douglas Emergency Fund will deliver immediate support to Berkeley Journalism students who are coping with financial troubles around housing, food, health and the million other things that life throws our way. We do this in honor of Art Douglas, North Gate Hall’s beloved custodian who embodied what it means to be caring and supportive of our students. As he cleaned our school at night, he would share advice and words of support with our students who were there late trying to finish their work, inquiring about their classes, their stories and their lives. This fund is named after Art’s late wife.
