Director's Fund for the Berkeley Stem Cell Center

Your gift to the Stem Cell Center Director’s Fund propels discoveries to fulfill the promise of regenerative medicine to treat human disease.

The Berkeley Stem Cell Center carries out basic and applied research essential for the development of stem cell-based therapies, from discovering fundamental stem cell biology to engineering materials, devices, and imaging systems that enable the application of this knowledge to medicine.

Ongoing projects include better modeling and understanding of incurable genetic and degenerative diseases, applying genome engineering and gene therapy approaches to curing conditions such as sickle cell disease and vision loss, engineering devices to measure stem cell responses at the single cell level, and developing imaging systems to track the fate of transplanted cells within the human body.
