Blum Center for Developing Economies

Help students and faculty from over 60 disciplines continue to make a sustainable social impact by supporting scholarships, new courses, entrepreneurship opportunities, and applied research.

The Center leverages the talent and entrepreneurial spirit of UC Berkeley to develop technology-driven solutions for sustainable social impact -- working with corporate, government and nonprofit partners to advance international development, national security, and economic prosperity. Our undergraduate minor, Global Poverty & Practice, prepares students to use their Berkeley education to make a difference in low resource communities across the world; our graduate degree in development engineering trains students to integrate engineering, economics, and business to develop, implement, and evaluate technological innovations; and our Big Ideas@Berkeley entrepreneurship program supports a thousand students each year working solve problems that matter to their generation.
