PUENTE Project

Founded in 1981 at Chabot Community College in Hayward, California, The Puente Project has since expanded to 11 middle schools, 40 high schools, and two-thirds of all community colleges throughout the state of California. For over 40 years, Puente has supported the enrollment and success of over 100,000 secondary and community college students. 74% of Puente’s secondary students and 87% of Puente’s community college students are first-generation college students. The college going rate of Puente graduates in 2022–23 was considerably higher when compared to those rates in all of California (78% versus 62%).

Your gift will directly support Puente scholars enroll in colleges and universities so they can earn degrees and return to their communities as leaders and mentors.
