We are the campus center that is solely responsible for the campus LGBTQ and Women’s enrichment and belonging programs. We provide community engagement events, educational workshops, and resources that improve the campus experience for LGBTQ communities and Women Cal. We employ over 20 undergraduate and graduate student interns, providing close mentorship and learning opportunities. We are a space where everyone is welcome to come and chill, study, meet new friends, learn and/or teach something new, be in community, and above all, create a space of belonging for everyone.
CELEBRATE 50! Believe it or not, our center turns 50 next year! Some of you may remember us as the Women’s Resource Center while some of you know us by our current name, the Gender Equity Resource Center. Some of you are just learning about us for the first time. We are excited to get to know all of you and welcome you into the GenEq community. Your support will lay the foundation for another 50 years of GenEq making Cal a welcoming and safe campus.
We have 3 giving opportunities to help you identify where to dedicate your generous gift:
Your gift to LGBTQ Programs & Services Fund will support our emerging Stonewall Fund which is set up to assist those LGBTQ students who face economic hardship due to family trauma (e.g. being disowned); support our LGBTQ mentorship program (Queer Cal Pals) where returning students are partnered with incoming students to guide them and help them adjust to campus through an LGBTQ lens and the continued work of the staff to guide the university into a place of belonging through initiatives driven by the new systemwide policy on on Gender Recognition and Lived Names.
You may also focus your support on initiatives that will empower all women to reach their fullest potential while here and beyond graduation; build a close knit community of women supporting each other through the relaunch of Women’s Leadership Intensive and Wonder Women Weekly Series.
Finally you may provide support to ALL GenEq initiatives through our general Gender Equity Resources Fund which will provide for paid undergraduate internships and graduate fellowship Studies have shown that students who work on campus are more likely to academically persist and graduate. We also provide trainings and other educational resources to the entire campus with the goal of evolving LGBTQ and Women’s belonging.
