Computing, Data Science, & Society Diversity Fund
Help fund our diversity and equity programs at the Division of Computing, Data Science, and Society.

Together, we are shaping the future of our data-dependent world, by valuing fair practices and including voices from all stakeholders.

  • Data Scholars Program helps students from many disciplines and backgrounds to learn together, develop their data science skills, and co-create a diverse community.
  • Discovery Program connects undergraduates with hands-on, team-based opportunities in cutting-edge data research projects at UC Berkeley, government agencies, community groups and entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Data Science Modules allow faculty across campus to explore unprecedented ways to incorporate data science into their classes.
  • Computer Science Mentors is a student-run organization that provides guidance and resources in a smaller classroom environment through group tutoring sessions.
  • Data Science Transfer Course helps students transitioning into data science from community colleges and other colleges and universities meet and learn from peers and faculty.
  • California Alliance for Data Science Education leads efforts to share data science curricula with community colleges, ensuring non-traditional students have access to this high-paying, highly desired career.

From creating new curricula that teach students about ethics in their data science work to starting campus-wide conversations about how algorithms are reshaping culture, the division is focused on equity and inclusion.

When we reach 25 gifts to the CDSS Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Justice Fund,

we will activate a $500 matching gift from an anonymous donor.
