ASUC Student Advocate's Office
Help support caseworkers who advocate for fellow students!

The Student Advocate’s Office (SAO) is an executive, non-partisan office of the ASUC. We offer free, confidential casework services and resources to any student(s) navigating issues with the University, including academic, conduct, financial aid, and grievance concerns. All support is centered around students and aims for an equity-based approach.

Our Academic Division handles scholastic issues including, but not limited to, grade changes, personal withdrawals, CalCentral issues, and disputes with faculty.

Our Financial Aid Division handles monetary issues including, but not limited to, financial aid dispersal, student employees, emergency housing, tuition, and California residency.

Our Conduct Division handles conduct issues for students accused of violating the Student Code of Conduct for actions including, but not limited to, alleged cheating, destruction of property, and assault.

Our Grievance Division handles all other student grievances, including, but not limited to, DSP accommodations, discrimination, sexual violence, and non-traditional student concerns.

Our case trends inform office policy projects that push for more just campus policies and resources that prioritize and protect students’ rights and general welfare.

These casework and policy initiatives support any and all student(s): current undergraduate and graduate students, withdrawn students, non-traditional students, incoming students, and recent graduates!

This year, we are raising funds to contribute to our caseworker stipends, an initiative that aims to increase the accessibility and economic diversity of our office. Our goal is to financially empower our caseworkers to be a part of a community inclusive of all backgrounds and circumstances, by addressing any barriers to entry one might face regarding involvement and time dedication to SAO.

All of our stipend funding is garnered through the compassion and generosity of our donors through fundraising events such as these, and we are able to allocate the rest towards our outreach projects to make our office well-known to folks who are in need of our services. Our caseworkers are the heart and soul of SAO, and they truly care about their clients and the assistance they are able to offer them!

Our outreach to students in need is made possible by your donations!

We'd greatly appreciate any consideration for your donations, as those are what make it possible for our office to run as successfully as it has!
