Astronomy Equity & Inclusion
Support Astronomy's equity and inclusion efforts!

From the stunning scientific discoveries made by our students and faculty, to innovations in teaching, to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for faculty, students, postdocs, and staff, Berkeley Astronomy empowers everyone to explore their Universe.

With your support we can make substantial strides in our diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.

A gift to Astronomy at Berkeley would support programs such as:

  • Expanded research opportunities, through Cal-Bridge: A CSU-UC Physics and Astronomy Bridge Program. Advancing undergraduate astronomy research and education, among traditionally underrepresented groups, in order to promote their participation and advancement in PhD programs in astronomy and related fields.
  • Professional development activities, like AstroTech, a national summer school on astronomical instrumentation hosted at Berkeley for upper-level undergraduates and early graduate students. It aims to establish an equitable community that supports groups currently underrepresented in the field of astronomical instrumentation.
  • Mentorship through the Cal NERDS Program, a suite of programs that provide faculty-mentored research opportunities, tech training, graduate school preparation, career coaching, and more for high achieving undergrad and grad students.
