Physics Equity & Inclusion
Support Physics' equity and inclusion efforts!

The Physics Department seeks to improve the experience of all its students and faculty by building and enhancing the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) programs in our community. We can build upon these efforts, by offering research opportunities for students, improve representation amongst students, faculty, and postdocs, and expand mentoring to all students, as they progress through their physics degree program.

With your support we can make substantial strides. A gift to Physics at Berkeley would support programs such as:

  • Expanded undergraduate research opportunities and increased paid positions for underrepresented students.
  • Professional development activities and mentoring events, like the virtual Berkeley Edge Conference, which encourages and inspires talented students from historically excluded populations who are currently underrepresented in our MA and Ph.D. programs to apply for advanced study at Berkeley.
  • First Friday Anti-Racism Workshops, launched in October 2020, as a forum to bring together the entire physics community in dialogue about our role as a community in dismantling racism in STEM.
  • Student travel grants to present at conferences, expanding their reach and exposure, while also raising the profile of the department.
