Diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and Justice (DEIBJ) are core principles interlaced in all aspects of the School of Information’s teaching, learning, and research. While we've made great strides in improving gender equity and creating a welcoming climate, there is still much work to be done to foster a more diverse student body including graduate students from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Because we are educating the technologists and tech policy-makers of tomorrow, it is critical that we recruit the best and brightest students that are also the most reflective of a society in which technology is nearly ubiquitous.
Fellowships help the I School attract talented and deserving students and fuel a dynamic community that is fundamental to innovative teaching and research. The I School Opportunity Fellowship Fund provides fellowship support to students who have overcome significant challenges; shown leadership in the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion; or whose research addresses social inequality and/or social impact.
We are grateful to all of you who contributed on Giving Tuesday last November. Your support of the I School’s Opportunity Fellowship fund is helping us shape a more just and equitable information technology landscape now and in the future. We respectfully invite everyone who didn't participate last time, to consider making a gift before this campaign ends, on December 31st and help us increase the impact of this vital initiative.
