SSL Student Engagement Fund

As UC’s preeminent space research facility, UC Berkeley’s Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL) is committed to fostering the next generation of space explorers. Yet, given the rapidly increasing societal significance of aerospace technologies, we are currently unable to meet the present student demand for real-world experience in space-based fields. That’s why SSL launched the URSA Minor Apprenticeship Program, to increase Cal student opportunities to directly engage in groundbreaking space research, develop aerospace technical abilities, and contribute to NASA missions.

Participating students help SSL’s mission teams with spacecraft design, mission operations, technology development, and many other critical tasks under the mentorship of leading aerospace engineers and research scientists. Ongoing stipends also help ensure that financial hardship is never a barrier for talented individuals eager to pursue space-related careers.

By donating to this program, you will directly support and help SSL grow the number of participating apprentices. Ultimately, you will enable more students to gain crucial skills and prepare for leadership roles in the space sector.
